E-invoicing with Odoo: send, receive, report
Odoo has been an approved platform since April 2026: from Odoo 17, your electronic invoices leave from and arrive in Odoo, in Community as in Enterprise. We check your data, activate the service and test it on a copy of your database before the first real invoice.

E-invoicing deadlines in France and Belgium
Three dates to know, and where your company stands today.
-
Belgium, 1 January 2026: Peppol between companies
Invoices between Belgian VAT-registered companies go through the Peppol network, in a structured format. A PDF sent by e-mail is no longer a valid invoice between them.
-
France, 1 September 2026: receiving for every company
Every company subject to VAT must be able to receive electronic invoices. Large companies and mid-caps must also issue them.
-
France, 1 September 2027: issuing for SMEs
SMEs and micro-companies must in turn issue their invoices electronically. The year until then is the time to clean your data and test.
E-invoicing in France: what is mandatory and what to set up in Odoo
What Odoo does as an approved platform
With the reform, an invoice between two French companies goes through approved platforms registered by the DGFiP. Odoo being one, sending and receiving are done from Odoo, without an external platform.
- Sending customer invoices one by one or in batches, with their delivery status on the invoice.
- Receiving supplier invoices several times a day, created as drafts: you approve them, or refuse them with a reason sent to the supplier.
- E-reporting: sales to individuals and international sales sent automatically to the tax authority, every ten days.
- Formats: invoices sent in UBL, and the three formats of the reform accepted on receipt, Factur-X, UBL and CII.
- Public sector: invoices go through Chorus Pro, with a dedicated module of the French localization.
E-invoicing according to your Odoo version
The work is not the same if you are on a recent version, on Odoo 16 or with another platform.
Odoo 17, 18 or 19
The official module "France - E-invoicing (approved platform)" is available, in Community as in Enterprise, on Odoo.sh as on your own server. What remains: clean data and activation.
Odoo Online
The module is there too. Activation is done in the accounting settings, after checking your company and customer data.
Odoo 16 or earlier
The module does not exist. Two options: upgrade to a recent version, which we recommend, or connect Odoo to an external approved platform.
Odoo migrationAnother approved platform
Your accountant, your bank or your group already has one: Odoo exchanges the invoices with it through a connector that we build and maintain.
Odoo connectorsWhat holds up e-invoicing in Odoo most often
Activation takes little time. Data quality is what takes time.
Customers without a SIREN
It is the number that finds your customer in the e-invoicing directory. Without it, the invoice cannot go through the platform. Start with your largest customers.
Badly formed invoice lines
Each line needs a product or a label, and a single tax. Misused note lines and lines with two taxes are rejected.
A legal representative to plan for
Registration is validated by the legal representative: a code by e-mail, an identity check, then an electronic signature. The accounting team cannot sign in their place.
Old customizations
A modified invoice template, a special numbering or a custom module can get in the way of e-invoices. They are tested on a copy of your database, in both directions.
Odoo customizationWhat we do for your e-invoicing
From data review to the first real invoices, or the upgrade if your version is too old.
Data review
Company, customers and suppliers: SIREN, VAT number, full address, taxes. We list what is missing and fix it with your team.
Activation
Settings, journal for supplier invoices, e-reporting if you are concerned, and the registration by your legal representative step by step.
Tests on a copy
Your real invoices, your templates and your custom modules tested on a neutralized copy of your database before going live.
The neutralized databaseUpgrade
Your database and your custom modules moved to a version that handles e-invoicing, if you are still on Odoo 16 or earlier.

Frequently asked questions about e-invoicing with Odoo
Do we need Odoo Enterprise?
No. The module is part of Odoo's French localization, published under a free licence: it also works with the Community edition, from version 17.
We are on Odoo 16: what should we do?
The module does not exist for version 16. You can upgrade to a recent version, which we recommend, or connect your Odoo to an external approved platform in the meantime.
Is Odoo's e-invoicing service free?
Odoo announces sending and receiving as free. Check the conditions that apply to your contract when you activate it.
Can we keep another approved platform?
Yes. If your accountant, your bank or your group already uses one, Odoo exchanges the invoices with it through a connector. You then have to plan for its cost and its maintenance.
Should an SME activate everything now?
Receiving has been mandatory since 1 September 2026; issuing will be on 1 September 2027. Activating reception now lets you receive the invoices of suppliers already subject to the obligation, and prepare issuing without rushing.
What about Belgium?
Since 1 January 2026, invoices between Belgian VAT-registered companies go through the Peppol network. Odoo handles Peppol natively from version 17: the company registers, then sends and receives its invoices from Accounting.
How can we check that Odoo is an approved platform?
The official list of registered platforms is published by the DGFiP on impots.gouv.fr. It is the only reference that counts, for Odoo as for any other platform.
