The same Odoo, local rules in each country
We work on Odoo integration, custom development and version upgrades for companies in many countries. Most of our clients are in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, so this page details their local rules: e-invoicing, accounting localisation, the payment methods customers expect and the languages teams work in.
France: e-invoicing and French banks
Since 1 September 2026, every French company subject to VAT must be able to receive electronic invoices. Issuing them becomes mandatory for SMEs and micro-businesses on 1 September 2027. Odoo generates Factur-X natively; what needs checking is the data around the invoice: SIREN numbers, VAT numbers and customer identifiers.
Most of our payment modules were written for French banks: Monetico for CIC and Crédit Mutuel, CAWL and Up2pay for Crédit Agricole, Axepta for BNP Paribas, and PayFIP for the public sector.
E-invoicing 2026 and Odoo Our Odoo payment modulesBelgium: Peppol and Bancontact
Since 1 January 2026, Belgian companies must send and receive their B2B invoices in a structured electronic format through the Peppol network. A PDF sent by email no longer counts as a valid invoice between Belgian VAT-registered companies.
Odoo supports Peppol natively from version 17: the company registers on the network, then sends and receives invoices and credit notes directly from Accounting. Version 16 and older do not include it, so the usual answer is an upgrade.
Most Belgian shoppers expect Bancontact at checkout. Several of our modules offer it, including Axepta BNP Paribas, HiPay and Rabobank Smart Pay.
Odoo migrationLuxembourg: Peppol for public bodies
In Luxembourg, invoices sent to public bodies have had to be electronic since 2023, through Peppol. The Peppol setup available in Odoo since version 17 covers it.
Databases often work in French, German and English at the same time, and the Luxembourg accounting localisation is part of standard Odoo.
Netherlands: iDEAL and Dutch banks
In the Netherlands, iDEAL is the payment method most shoppers use. Our Rabobank Smart Pay (Omnikassa) module offers iDEAL, Wero, Bancontact and cards; HiPay also covers iDEAL.
Peppol is the standard for invoicing Dutch public bodies, and the Dutch accounting localisation is part of standard Odoo.
Rabobank Smart Pay for OdooSeveral languages in the same database
Odoo handles several languages natively: product descriptions, website pages, emails and PDF documents can exist in French, Dutch, German and English, and each customer receives documents in their own language.
Each country has its own accounting localisation in standard Odoo (chart of accounts, taxes, VAT reports). Our work is to configure it correctly, import opening balances and adapt the reports and documents your accountant needs.
Other countries
Odoo has an accounting localisation for most countries, and our method stays the same everywhere: we start from the local legal requirements, then configure standard Odoo before writing any code.
Wherever your company is based, describe your project and we will tell you what applies in your country.
