On 20 November 2026, the rules for paying in instalments change

The new EU Consumer Credit Directive, known as CCD2, applies from 20 November 2026. Paying in instalments now falls within its scope: at checkout, customers must see the cost of each plan and the legal credit notices, and Alma must receive the details of every order. Our Alma module for Odoo is up to date, for Odoo 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20.

We develop the Alma Payment Provider module and support it together with the Alma team. This article explains what CCD2 changes for an Odoo shop that offers Alma, what the new version of the module does, and how to install it before the deadline.

What CCD2 changes for Alma merchants

Directive (EU) 2023/2225 replaces the former Consumer Credit Directive. Split payments, even interest free, are now treated as credit: customers must be told what it costs before they commit, and the lender must be able to check what was bought and delivered.

For a shop that offers Alma, this means two obligations:

  • Show the credit notices on the payment page, in the customer's language and according to the country.
  • Send Alma the order data: the cart contents, the delivery method, then the shipment and its tracking.

Alma has told its merchants that this information will be expected for every order from 20 November 2026.

What your customers see at checkout

The journey does not change: customers pick Alma at the Odoo payment step, choose their plan, then finish on the Alma page. What changes is the information shown before they confirm.

Next to each plan

For every plan of 2 instalments or more: the fees and the APR. Customers compare plans without leaving the page.

Once a plan is selected

The warning about the cost of credit, a representative example worked out on the cart amount, and Alma's legal notice.

The texts come from the CCD2 guide provided by Alma, for each country where Alma operates: France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Ireland. In Belgium, the notices are shown in French or Dutch depending on the visitor's language. The country is taken from your Alma account automatically and can still be changed in the settings of the Alma payment provider.

The widget shown on product pages and in the cart remains Alma's official widget. It is loaded from Alma and kept up to date by Alma, with nothing to do on your side.

What the module sends to Alma

Everything comes from the Odoo order, with no extra input from your team:

  • The cart: each item with its reference, categories, quantity, price and a link to its product page, plus discounts.
  • The delivery: the method chosen by the customer, home delivery, pickup point or in store collection, with the carrier and the shipping price.
  • The order status: processing as soon as the payment is confirmed, cancelled if you cancel the order in Odoo.
  • The shipment: when the delivery order is validated, the order is marked as shipped and the tracking number of each parcel is sent to Alma. A number added later is sent as well.

Shipments are sent by a small companion module, installed automatically when deliveries are managed in Odoo. If you do not use the Inventory app, everything else works as usual.

Supported versions and update

The new version is available for Odoo 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20. Each version was tested with real payments in Alma's test environment: notices on screen, data sent, order status and parcel tracking.

The update works like any Odoo module: replace the module, then click Upgrade in the Apps menu. No extra configuration is needed. We recommend a trial run on a copy of your database, in test mode, before going live, and doing it a few days before 20 November rather than the day before.

Frequently asked questions

Does paying in full with Alma need the notices?

No. The credit notices only appear for plans of 2 instalments or more. The order data, on the other hand, is sent for every Alma payment.

Will my Belgian customers see the texts in Dutch?

Yes, if Dutch is enabled on your Odoo website. The module picks the French or Dutch version of the notices based on the language of the page.

Do I need to change anything in my Alma account?

No. Your plans, fees and minimum and maximum amounts stay as set in your Alma dashboard. The module works out the notices from those settings.

Does the module work on Odoo Online?

No. It is a third party module, which Odoo Online does not accept. It installs on Odoo.sh or on your own server.

Can you do the update for us?

Yes. We update the module, check the notices in your languages and test a full payment, from the order to the parcel tracking, before going live with you.

Is your Alma shop ready for 20 November?

Tell us which Odoo version your website runs and where you sell: we will tell you which version to install, or do the update for you. Contact us, or see the Alma Payment Provider module page.
